Has anyone read Vineland recently? I have a theory and I wonder if it can be corroborated without my going back to it. In my opinion at the end of the book it seems like the all main characters excepting the anime-duo characters who specifically help restless souls. Problem is I'm not exactly sure when the characters died
I suppose I could just re-read it but I'm interested what anons have to say.

what the fuck was he thinking with that middle section...zoyd's daughter is endearing but overall the novel is shit, definitely worse than BE and IV

>> No.12488164

LMAO I forgot the key word the other main characters are DEAD*
>>12488141
Eh it was fun. It would have made a better movie than IV and when I found out vineland was his first plan after watching the movie I was pissed. He could have actually shot vineland. IV was 3 hours long and still rushed and left scenes out.

You got a source on that? And Inherent Vice should have been a miniseries, something like 12 episodes, but PTA has botched every film he's made from a writing standpoint, so can't not expect him to leave out the politically dangerous stuff.

From wikipedia
>Years prior, Anderson considered adapting Pynchon's 1990 novel Vineland, but could not figure out. When Inherent Vice came out, he was drawn to it and wrote the film concurrently with The Master.[

He'd be better off with Wallace.

Gaspar Noe is sort of in the vein of what I would want for GR though.

Probably right on the Wallace bit; I was thinking of directors with a keen sense of set and costume design.Ridley Scott might be good because he has some great sets and costume design (Gladiator) while being able to pull off the grandiose stuff like Wallace.

>>12488488
GR would make a great anime, ngl. If it was made in the 80's/90's though, anime now blows.

The ending is a little weird. It was the first Pynchon I read and all I remember is a big family reunion. It could be possible that some of those family members were mentioned dead earlier.
