Did I fuck up by buying this edition of The Book of Disquiet, it will it be practically the same as the zenith version? I read some reviews and I’m having second thoughts

I read the Zenith but from what I have heard both translations are good.

>> No.12478187

Translations should be regarded as different works entirely if we're being honest.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK THIS BOOK IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH.

>> No.12478204

All translations are essentially different works entirely. That's the truth of the matter. When somebody says "this is a good translation", they're saying "this person captured what I think this book was about even though I didn't read it in the original language", at least for the most part.

no in 'essence' the idea is the same

No. The essence of a translation is agreed upon as, at most, similar to the original. It's never the same.
