didn he use the dragon soul stone thingies to charge himself up like some sort of battery?

the magic system was ripped wholesale from earthsea, but it did have neat ideas, like how a fireball could waste all your life force so instead you just give your enemies an aneurysm by fucking with their blood vessels

>> No.12479457

Yeah I think IIRC there was some sort of stone every dragon had that contained his magic power and you could collect them to be really strong.

>>12479391
>it did have neat ideas
>give your enemies an aneurysm

I hate that, as it is just stylistically inconsistent with a fantastical setting. Myth and science operate on completely different levels, to try to introduce modern concepts into magic is stupid, and done by people who have no clue that mythical stories actually have meaning beyond the literal legend and obvious moralization. As a result you get pages and pages wasted on autistic explanations on quantifying magic, when it adds completely nothing and means nothing.

You know, I can't even hate that greasy siscon furfag autist. It reminds me of that journalist who spitefully published totally made up bullshit, iirc it was "chocolate is actually good for you and helps you lose weight," and everyone fell for it, it went completely viral, and he came out later saying he made the whole thing up to show that readers of clickbait are braindead morons who will believe anything.

>“Please remove your shoes,” says Paolini’s 26-year-old sister, Angela, with dramatic singsong inflection, as she meets me in a foyer that doubles as a home gym. Paolini’s mother, Talita, a birdlike woman with a girlish voice and a sweet manner, makes a fluttery motion with her hand to indicate, “Oh, forget it, she can leave them on.” But Angela, who is tough and no-nonsense, and acts as her brother’s protector, insists: “We don’t wear them in the house.”

I want to rag on Paolini but the truth is I'm just really fucking bitter that everything I've had published has sold like under 500 copies. Sure I get invited to do speaking stuff quite a bit (the vast majority of which I dont even get fucking paid for) but it still hurts. I know I shouldn't be in it for the money but it's still really painful to know that something like Eragon is netting someone millions while I eat tinned beans because I'm in it "for the art"
