Slightly odd question /lit/

The more I advance my academic career in philosophy (har har har) the more I find the lyrics of most music unsatisfactory in terms of its actually saying anything.

I've been looking for music that is at least somewhat philosophical, the closest I have come is mr. bungle and other experimental artists, but I am now curious if you guys have had any experiences with music that fits what I am looking for?

It's art not philosophy

desu I'm in the same boat. Still love rap with a good beat, but I've moved on as the majority of music is too dull.

Have you tried Instrumentals? Letting the music speak for itself is amazing, ambient also is a good time as is drone.

Check out Ys by Joanna Newsom as well, I came into it expecting nothing but was left awestruck.

Polite sage as more /mu/ than /lit/.

I understand and did anticipate at least one person posting something to the effect of "its not arts job to emulate philosophy", but I don't think either of us wishes to engage in the ontology of "art" right now.

I totally get that I probably won't find it, and I'm not necessarily looking for a sung rendition of the Timaeus or anything, even something just vaguely philosophical will do it for me.

Define "other experimental artists"

Seconding Joanna Newsom above, I am convinced she's a poet set to a harp

Oh fuck off, you won't gain some profound insight to life by listening to music

there are NO answers, especially in philosophy, it won't magically fix your life, you will not gain anything other than wasted time, it's pure masturbation

that is an interesting notion, but it is both a mere easy apothegm until you elaborate with reasoning, and even if you do elaborate, the best it can be is an irrelevant comment to the overall discussion.

I am not gonna elaborate shit to You.

If You are not able to critically analyze simple verse and shit to reach some kind of wacky-tobacky thought or theory, while drowning in the musical atmosphere that is unfolding between Your ears, You are a soulless brainlet who is perfect for academia.

I do not mean thoughts that are simple that can be construed as complex, as it is debatable if that is depth at all if it is not intended to be deep.

If you are not going to elaborate your reasoning and just leave your apothegm as an apothegm, then all of philosophy must be catchphrases to you, so why don’t you go enjoy today, after all that’s why they call it the present :^)
