Unironically current standard penguin classics with the black spines. Folio society are cool, but too expensive and have fallen off since 2017 ish

Wordsworth are art, not in how horrible they are, but in the reaction they cause, legit only publisher headed by artists

>> No.12421286

I love how Folio Society books look on the outside, but im actually not sure about the idea of having illustrations in them. I feel like it would compromise the mental image the reader develops by replacing it with a visual artists interpretation.

What do you think?

Nah, it doesn't, its a lil more complex tban that, i always like when an illustration comes in folio society books, it gives me a different perspective on a scene and can evoke new feelings but it never sabotages your own mental image, theyre too infrequwmt for that, mostly its about 5-6 drawings a novel

His prose is breathtaking. Pick up the Gass Reader that just came out, or go from Omensetter's Luck into The Tunnel. Probably my favourite writer.

For pure enjoyment, yes. Gaddis is more of a 'big ideas' man, although JR is highly enjoyable and funny as hell, Recognitions is the more important book, but can be a bit of a slog.
