Depends what you mean by taught. Anyone of such high standing intellectually is probably it going to have there ideas crafted by another individual person, in fact to be a genius one ideas must be vital and original to some extent, but in the why life’s circumstances can teach if argue absolutely. Charles Dickens harsh childhood and sudden rise to wealth endowed him with a need to reconcile the extremes of the Victorian era in terms of class strict social risk. Van Goghs lifetime struggle with mental illness and isolation forced him to find truth and transcendence in a world that regularly denied him either and so to craft his own worldview in his art. Genius is usually taught, study geniuses, they're usually put in a situation where they're forced to think or were their parents gave them education better than 99% of people. There was a guy who taught his daughter to play chess at a young age and she became one of the first female grand chest masters when she was older. Mozart had a parent who was a professional musician who taught him, forced him, at the age of 3 to learn, so he had thousands of hours of experiance by the age of ten where others had just begun learning. Genius, according to sociology, is taught, as well as stupidity.
