If I have free will, then why couldn’t I will myself to get out of bed this morning?

You don't have freedom of will; you have freedom of action. That is to say: you can do what you will, but not choose what you want to will, for this is determined.

Well how do I bring my will closer to my rationality, and do what I know should be done?

>> No.12413267

You can't control your circumstances. That would make no sense, such things are up to fate. You can will yourself to do very immediate concrete things like get out of bed.

>> No.12413317

your inability to get out of bed justified your depressing thoughts, its literally self justification.
You feel good about being right in feeling like shit and acting accordingly

If I have free will, why can't I fall asleep when I wantto

If you had a reason to get out of bed, you would have. Free will is bullshit. Action is born out of necessity. When you make it so that it has to be done, it will be done.

I or anyone and anything else can only prevent you from doing what you will but not from willing what you will. Consider that it is neither your will against your lack of will nor your will against the determined world, nor even your will against the random world, but your will against an other's will.

That's because you really don't want to. Free will is the ability for humans to choose between good or evil actions. By this definition, it's limited to what humans and what an individual is capable of. You can't just will yourself to fly or to will the sky to fall. Free will =/= omnipotence.
