Any books for someone who just became an orphan anons? I'm not sure how I'm going to get through this

>> No.12397278

I think it only counts as orphan if you lost your parents when you were a child. No one cares if your parents died when you are an adult

How old are you? My parents died in an accident when I was 13 and it might seem cold or heartless but it doesn't feel like a defining factor in my psyche or in my attitude to the world. Obviously I feel many things related to them but the it's almost as if experience per se passed by my side without touching me.

old enough to legally be considered an adult. It would be a bigger deal if you were 10 or 7.

Study eastern philosophy desu. Eventually if you read enough of it you reach a point where you begin to float through life on a cloud of ineffable bliss 24/7; it will help you realize whatever anguish you have about your parents is misplaced. Start with either of these.

Yeah, but think about the orphans in novels, their parents died when they were pre-puberty

Cinderella
Oliver Twist, don't know what happened to his daddy
Jane Eyre

Hmm, strange, so the orphans seem to inherit great wealth

I've never read Anne of Green Gables, but the orphan girl and the Series kids were rich as fuck, rich as Jeff Bezos. So was orphan Harry Potter

You've had your whole world stripped from you like Edmund Dantes. Read The Count of Monte Cristo and do not despair. Live the most heroic and adventurous life you can so when you see your parents again you can tell them with great joy all your great accomplishments and tales.

Yeah, now that you mention it most orphan kids are stupid rich, huh? Kind of defeats the purpose.
Anne of Green Gables isn't, though. It's a pretty cute story about growing up in rural Canada in the late 1800s.

Were Dorian Grey and the main character in those Woodhouse/Jeeves stories orphans? I don't remember their parents, and they were crazy rich

>> No.12397363

>>12397345
Not sure about Jeeves but yeah, Dorian is another stupidly rich orphan.
It's a little annoying after you notice it, huh?

>> No.12397387

Well, OP, are you now incredibly rich after getting your inheritance?

I'd recommend this too, anon. I'm really sorry for what has happened to you. Please look into Buddhist and Hindu teachings, they have many precepts and practices which you will benefit much from. Don't worry about following them as "religions" or anything like that, just understand what they're speaking on and try to follow whatever you feel will help you. Okay? Take care, fren.

You are an adult. Like me. Losing your parents is hard. But you can't let it define who you are right now, you have to look forward.
