Not even the same guy but you obviously don't get him.

It isn't about character development or witty dialogues, there's no time for that trite bullshit, asimov has stories to tell that spand thousands of years, there's no time to stop and ask how character x feels about the fall of the empire, we've got two motherfucking colonies to build at both sides of the galaxy.

why? because your readers are illiterate neckbeards that can't handle anything longer than 100 pages? Asimov was outdone by video games, deal with it.

Character development may have been trite if Asimov had attempted it, but that's because triteness was his defining characteristic. Generally-speaking, imaginary empires are about as trite as it gets.

anyway

asimov wrote like 500+ books, he had no time to stop and write about hari's feelings or something unrelated to his ideas, it would've only taken precious time, adding nothing, if you want feelings go read some romance novels, asimov needed all his time to give us more awesome ideas.

>If he had taken the time, then maybe he would have been remembered for far more instead of just foundation

Good thing he is remembered for far more than the foundation

for instance, talk about AI and inevitably you'll hear the three laws of robotics

then there's I robot, bicentennial man

and that's only what reached mainstream culture, he's well respected among academici for his non fiction, his promotion of science ( i.e. asimov's new guide to science), his essays,...

But yeah, if you knew anything about him other than that he's written the foundation, you'd know.

Anywho, trolling aside, I still stand behind the idea that Clarke is the better writer simply because the ideas resonate on a higher degree because of his superior writing ability.

Is Clarke some sort of amazing writer on the level of Nabokov or whatever famous novelist? Not particularly. But it did help.

>>1239613
oh man i really grinded yer gears huh

Yeah, yeah, I'm well-aware of Asimov and his accomplishments, I was being obtuse on purpose.
I thought the little smiley face and the comment about Will Smith would give away I'm just being a cock on purpose but I guess Autists have trouble understanding people on the internet too!

>> No.1239638

>the ideas resonate on a higher degree because of his superior writing ability.

That's a nice way of saying nothing except that his prose is a bit better.

Anyway, I'm not mad at all, I just argumented against your ridiculous statement that Clarke is the better writer, an argument which originated from the misunderstanding of Asimov's work. All you ever did was ridicule Asimov's work , never presenting a real argument.

So I'll leave it by this since you obviously can't handle an adult discussion.

>> No.1239649

>>1239638That's a nice way of saying nothing except that his prose is a bit better.

His better prose meant he was better able to communicate his concepts and ideas to me on a more personal level.

>I just argumented against your ridiculous statement that Clarke is the better writer

I DISAGREE WITH YOUR SUBJECTIVE OPINION, HOW DARE YOU NOT AGREE WITH ME!

>an argument which originated from the misunderstanding of Asimov's work

did you not read the part where I said I am aware of his accomplishments in science fiction and science itself? I appreciate Asimov's ideas and concepts. But not on the level of Clarke's, because Clarke's better writing ability.

>So I'll leave it by this since you obviously can't handle an adult discussion.
