This is the syllabus of Peter Thiel's course at Stanford. What do you guys think?

>> No.12387442

It's not exactly bad, but it's very one-sided in terms of its implicit support for capitalism and Western cultural imperialism.

meh

Doesn't even deal with the anti-globalization movement of the 90s. Opposition to globalization isn't new and it hasn't accomplished anything much. I would say Trump is more of an internationalist than Bush was and points towards a trend towards liberalism. I'm willing to bet the 2020s will probably see nations states become less relevant and markets will become more free.

I found this in his syllabus

https://www.edge.org/conversation/john_horgan-why-i-think-science-is-ending

I agreed with the premise but vehemently disagree with his reasoning that science reached it's end because we have hit the limits what science can do - it's because of the professionalization of science and just the growing weakness of the mental faculties in our scientists today compared to 100 years ago

Judging from the syllabus the professor seams like a whining crybaby bitch. When I went to school people talked about how great the future would be with automation and technology. Computers would do everything for us.

That fifth section looks pretty interesting. It’s too long and in depth for a single week’s class reading but I’d happily recommend the book “The Rise and Fall of American Growth” for any anons here interested in the stagnation of tangible progress.

The obvious example is his book 'The Diversity Myth: Multiculturalism and Political Intolerance on Campus' which he wrote almost 25 years ago. More than most, he saw where things were going in Academia and sought to warn people, and his every dreaded prediction has come to pass.

More could be said here. What he was trying to do with Paypal seems to have anticipated elements of Bitcoin for example, but I had his social concerns in mind more than anything.

Let me explicate what I meant a little more. Trump's popular globally in a sense Bush never was. Most of his policies are more internationalist in so far as they are nationalist (you need to understand the dialectic). He's using pressure to force foreign nations to liberalize their economies and open to more American trade. Anyhow it'll all probably lead to potential countermeasures in the next Democratic administration not intended by him.

>>12388787
and you're a retard who's read too much wignat lit. Trump's been president for little over two years, do you really expect him to singlehandedly "solve" the demographic and racial issues slowly corroding the soul of the white American working class? There's much more to the corrosion than demographics considering my 95% white town is experiencing the same soul corroding conditions as more diverse areas. As for the military industrial complex, he's been drawing down actions in various middle eastern countries, which is a good sign. You expect far too much from one man. The maneuvering required to pass legislation and navigate an establishment clearly opposed to him will remain unknown to most laymen.

You're an idiot

Bush kickstarted imperialism in the form of a false flag, 15++ year occupation in the Mideast.
Trump is pulling troops out of Syria. Pulling us out of foreign agreements (the talk in places like the World Economic Forum, Milken Instute, think tanks etc is how the US is taking a step back from a leadership role - particularly in light of a rising Asia.

His supporters are populist, nationalists etc.
The H1B thing is what I'd consider treason by the way. Trump is doing it because he does not give a shit about anything and was lobbied by tech companies.

He's a false populist / nationalist leader.

Yes, Bush was was recklessly nationalistic in a bad way Trump hasn't been. The invasion of the middle east was specifically for unilateral (however wrongheaded) interests of America and Israel (which are believed to be the same by most Americans). You have lots of the same figures like John Bolton in this administration but they're not in control of events in the same way. I mean if you want to go just with rhetoric you'll get a different interpretation but you got to look at actions and consequences.
What you're seeing is the globalization and future Americanization of the global discourse. You got right wing movements in every country loving Trump. QAnon's an international phenomena. Many people want to be deeper integrated into America now.
