It's a Dostoevskian study of Shakespeare in my opinion. Did you notice how frequently he interrupts himself and says the exact opposite of what he proclaims? Every assertion is given almost at once with its ironical shadow, like all the great Shakesperian characters (and like any good self conscious human).

Brothers Karamazov takes it even further.
