12384742 No.12384742 [Reply] [Original]

Which version of the bible is the best middle ground between accurate and enjoyable to read?

>> No.12384775

>>12384742
Authorized KJV for both.

>> No.12384780

Spanish German or French are more accurate than the English translations. Last week I read somewhere on the internet that for ages basically pre-WW1 church service in Britain was in Latin.

Don't listen to the protestant. NABRE is what you want.

>> No.12384835

>>12384742
There’s no “accurate” about it anon

>> No.12384906

>NABRE
eh, too modernist. OP, read Douay-Rheims

New World Translation

all language is inherently innacurate

You read something that it isn't true. Any Catholic Tridentine mass would have been in Latin up until Vatican II (this is true anywhere), but any Protestant service would have been in English since the 1500s.

KJV or Douay-Rheims. Everything else is a meme.

>> No.12385159

>>12385133
The DR is a meme. It's not even a translation of the original languages. Go read the original KJV preface where the KJV translators shit all over it.

>> No.12385169

>>12385159
It's a cathbro meme, sure, but it's perfect for learning Latin as a reading aid, which most cathbros should be doing anyways.

noted -TY

>> No.12385189

>>12385169
There's no real need to learn Latin as a modern Catholic.

>> No.12385195

>>12385189
I mean, most priests today don't even know Latin. They have no use for it.

By the way, some low IQ protestant actually popularized DR and also it influenced KJV heavily so shut up lame anon
