reading is a waste of time when there's movies

Yeah, but films aren't intellectual enough for me and won't make me look smart

I can't use 1/100th of my hard drive as a doorstop.

Advantage: books.

Movies get boring.

>> No.1236655

Also, it's a problem if the movie is being really awesome and I have to take a titanic shit.

Not a problem with books.

Movies force the viewers into experiencing the same visual direction, pacing, and character models. You do not get this with books. My vision of the "shire", for instance, is dictated to me by the director or animator or CGI modeller. In a book, my experience of the landscape is different from the experience of other readers. This applies also to the voices, personality and quirks of characters within a story since I, as a reader subconsciously imparting my own experiences on what I am reading, have in my mind the idea of a person or place /more like/ what I have experienced in my life than what a director or editor decides to show me.

Also, /lit/ truly hates tripfags, so do yourself a favor and toss aside your well-planned idea of becoming some locally famous attention getter. Fuckers like you throw around the word "pretentious" constantly here without a single nod to the fat that tripfagging here is a "deliberate and ostentatious display of importance". Tripfagging on /lit/ is like sitting on a cock while proclaiming how mugh you hate gays.

Books make better kindling than movies

The fact of the matter seems to be that movies usually aren't as detailed or accurate as a book. Movies do not stimulate the mind or the imagination due to everything already being displayed on a screen. There are also many great books while not many great movies.

5/10.
