Now this really tickles my fancy. I come up with names for companies and products for a living and have done my fair share of research. Some general ideas on this issue: 1. Issidore Isou and the lettrist movement approached poetry from a phonetic and musical perspective. The band Magma came up with a made up language for their operatic albums that focused on feeling rather than meaning. In some degree, i believe Sigur Ros does the same in some of their songs. 2. There have been studies concerning this, but not many. The first one that comes to mind tried to distinguish between big and small sounding vowels. U and O are considered large. I, E, A are considered smallish. Also, korean and french both classify vowels as "dark" and "light".

This is not really what you are asking for but maybe some things to look into:

phonesthemes (coined by J.R. Firth)-- It's the idea that certain sound combinations suggest certain meanings without necessarily being meaningful units. Like words that start with "sp" often have a meaning related to liquids-- splash, spray, spit, splatter -- or words with "gl" with light -- glow, glimmer, glamour, glint, gleam, glare. But "sp" and "gl" are not morphemes.

Also, Roman Jakobson did some research about how for example, vowel sounds with higher formant frequencies tend to be associated with small things and vowels with lower formant frequencies with large things. I can't remember where to find this though, and of course Jakobson wrote a ton of stuff.
