Vic 2, make sure you play it with the Niggermod found on the /gsg/ thread on 4chan/vg/, which (in addition to vastly improving it) allows you to genocide people according even to specific religions and cultures. It's quite wonderful. I recently played a game as Italy, starting out Sardinia Piedmont I unified Italy and then made war against Austra-Hungary and the Ottomans until I controlled the entire Adriatic coast including Bosnia, Croatia, Albania in addition to Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and the Levant. From the 1890's to the 1950 I would alternate between genociding non-Italians and shutting down my factories in Italy to make everyone move to the Balkan and North African provinces. By 1950 I had a beautiful new Fascist Roman Empire that was 98% Italian, the number 1 world power with most of the countries in Europe as my fascist puppets.

The guy behind HPM is taking over a year to release the update. In his last one he semi-nerfed the genocide too. Niggermod is just the exact same as the most recent version of HPM with an un-nerfed genocide (it's not too strong though) as well as various minor improvements via cosmetic changes, added and fixed events, minor resource changes etc. They usually have it in the OP but if not you can just search for it on one of the /vg/ archive sites.

Paradox games like this are famous for the absurd amount of depth and strategic gameplay, they are also known to keep their old games still in touch, and keep releasing DLC many years after the game being launched. Only draw back are the prices.

Their games are still pretty complex for the fame they have, normally for more micromanaging strategic games you would have to dive into much underground stuff like dwarf fortress. You would be surprised how much the average normie struggles to understand just one of their games.

I disagree, EU4 and CK2 are still hard to master and have a good playthrough, too many single events can fuck you up rapidly.
Hoi4 still has multiplayer that is pretty challenging. Vic2 is more laid back, but also more kino.
