What's the best/your favorite book you had to read for school? Pic related.

All Quiet on the Western Front.

On the other hand, I hated the Great Gatsby, I was so bored I literally had no idea what was going on.

I liked Ender's Game.

I hated The Great Gatsby for a long time because the teacher that taught it was a douche.

Probably hafta go with Guns, Germs, and Steel, though that isn't literature... but you said book, so yeah that one.

shame you robbed yourself of some great reads

my choices: probably dubliners or the plague

>> No.1232414

Great Gatsby
Les Miserables
Farewell to Arms (though disliked at the time)
Catcher in the Rye
Invisible Man

...good times indeed

i'm changing my answer (from dubbliners / plague) to farewell to arms.

weirdly this was part of one of those mandatory 'pick x books from this list and read / write a report' assignments, not as part of the core syllabus. I read some incredibly good books as part of those lists, now that i think about it. I can see how making poor choices on that list would have made for a very different impression of school reading. .

My school only made us read stupid youth books about "relationships and love", each and every one of them poorly written of course.

No Great Gatsby for me, nor Cather in the Rye or Brave New World. ;_;

The Odyssey
Anthem
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
