Why do I want to lick Lindsay Ellis' asshole? I know how bad it would be. She's much fatter than she lets on in her videos. I know it would be terrible. I KNOW Lindsay Ellis has swamp ass. I know it. Yet I also know that I would sign an immutable contract to the effect that I must eat Lindsay Ellis' asshole or be destroyed. I know that my future self, in the time-stream, would rue my signing. I know that all of my hopes will be dashed the instant she hikes her fat chunky legs up onto her desk and I behold the dimpled cellulite of her thighs. I know that as I begin to approach her crotch and anus I will realize my mistake. I know that she will have swamp ass and it will smell unfeminine, and the task will become my prison, with no way out other than its completion. But I would sign that contract. I would sign it in my blood.

It's the awkward part of creating videos like this for mass consumption. Trash like Potter and John Green is the limit of exposure for a large portion of the audience, so concepts like this have to be explained using them.

A Fault in our Stars was a given anyway, as (I have no doubt due to a shared network or something similar) John Green was pretty prominently in the video and given a full third of the time to give his opinion.

Ellis is a prime example of what this shitty culture does to a person

She's very clever and you can tell a core part of her soul is "wanting to take life seriously and really serve the cause of morality," but she spent her entire youth and twenties being buffeted between one trendy artificial social cause ("look at me! I looove abortions!") and all the baggage that goes with being a woman (massively incommensurate attention and praise, making it impossible to discern actual feedback and engage with it in order to grow as a person).

There's a beautiful soul in there. She really does care about things and she's not mean-spirited. She deserves better than being yet another unwanted and unasked-for paragon of progressive ivory tower talking points ca. the mid-90s, as they're on their way out from the zeitgeist. Most of the shit she says is even correct, it's just that it's trivial. She's merely popularizing and preaching to choirs when she clearly wants to do more than that.

I wish she'd get a glimpse of a higher purpose or something, the higher postcolonialism and queer theory that makes all the pissant day-to-day postcolonialism and queer theory worth it in the end. She's too clever to subsist entirely on the latter, like many people do.

>> No.12324305

>>12324248
I totally agree with you and think it's the tragic fate of a lot of highly intelligent young women these days. I genuinely fear for what will happen to these women once this whole ivory tower charade collapses. Ironic how much the system ends up harming women despite claiming to empower them.

On another note, what are these "higher" queer theories and postcolonial theories you're talking about? I'd be interested in adding some to my reading list.

True. Hijacking and subverting feminism (and also I vil rights movements if we go beyond women) to turn it into the very thing it wanted to fight was probably one of the most clever tactics the establishment could have employed.

I suppose I must applaud them for being so successful in their manipulation, but it doesn't make it any less depressing.

it was a thinly defense of reading works by "minorities" not because of their literary/artistic/philosophical/whatever merits but simply because they're written by "minorities". by stripping away their one selling point and redeeming quality (i.e. being written by "minorities"), no one would care about those inferior works. thus, the figure of the author has to be brought back simply to accommodate disposable works into the spurious "diverse" canon that's being forced on us.
