It's the opposite for me, a literal third worlder. I suppose this happens only when you read philosophy.

Can someone make a parody of this, with books keeping one enslaved, and perhaps smartphones or some other modern technological apparatus bringing one to enlightenment? Since the theme of these comics is always about the contrast between books and mass-market stuff, lol, and it'd be funny to invert it.

Should specify that those are philosophical and scientific books otherwise it makes no sense. Reading thousands of harlequins or any other nonsense literature will bind you into that damn sun and it will suck your mind and reason and replace it with NPC algorithm.

I mean it's not even incoherent. Smartphone implies access to humanity's knowledge. A book must be published, produced, and made available at a store. If you're savvy, you can step beyond your bounds more so with the former than latter. But at the same time you might just spend your life on mind-killing social media, when not wage-slaving or doing drugs at parties.

Or maybe I'm just poor and can't afford to buy books, and this post is coping.
