This reads like the list of books an idiot thinks you're supposed to have read, plus a bunch of macho horseshit.

Why no Polish or other Eastern European literature besides Russian? Also, Into the Wild appears twice, so it's really 99 books

I'm a girl, and it seems about right that I'd be 1/3 manly.

Also, many of them were required reading in my middle school/high school.

The Great Gatsby is not manly.
Neither is All Quiet on the Western Front.
To Kill A Mockingbird is hippie shit.

13/100. I actually have been planning on reading a ton of these books. Thanks for the image OP. I have read children's versions of some of these when I was younger so I decided not to count them.

4/100, all of which were required at school.

apparently, school did not make a man of me.

>> No.1230431

How the fuck is reading Master and Margherita going to make anybody manly? It's about the devil going to Moscow, uncovering the underlying corruption and hypocrisy of Russian society and elevating a neurotic poet above them. Oh, and the poet needs a woman to talk some sense into him.

Most of these are all good books, but I do not think manliness comes from reading.

the art of manliness is a website dedicated to fashion. it's only popular because of the current trend for 'honest' American 'old fashioned' style. You might as well ask A Continuous Lean for book recommendations. I bet you the compiler of the list hasn't even read half of those.

Books I read the first few chapters of then got bored of: Brave New World, Moby Dick.

Books I read: Animal Farm.

And I read the first third of Genesis so that I could figure out precisely what covenants God made with all of man, instead of just Jews.

So assuming that I read .25 of two books, 1.0 of one, and maybe .1 of the bible, 1.35 of the books listed.

I should add that I'm not denigrating Brave New World or Moby Dick. I just have absolutely no attention span.
