There's a girl in my class whose name is Alethea, thought that was pretty neat.

No, it's not. In Slavic countries, Sasha is a diminutive of both Alexander and Alexandra (and variants). A girl named Sasha could only get a few weird looks if she made it obvious that it's supposed to be her first name (instead of a proper version) and not a nickname and/or if she was from a country where the name is not supposed to be in use.
