The covers are mostly terrible but the books themselves are actually decent quality. I got the Wordsworth's Classic version of Ulysses for my 16th birthday and it's still in pretty good shape, the spine has just the right amount of give for a book of its size and Ulysses' cover in particular isn't bad.

>> No.12253005

It has to do with copyright laws concerning works in the public domain. The publisher has to contribute some original content in order to copyright them. You shouldn't buy these because they're shady as fuck. All they do is take free epubs from Gutenberg, slap a hastily photoshopped cover on it, throw in some truly random pictures so they can list in on Amazon as "with illustrations" and then they charge a premium for it.

>> No.12253015

But why? Wordsworth are sold so fucking cheap, surely they could put some money aside for getting decent covers?

How?
>All they do is take free epubs from Gutenberg, slap a hastily photoshopped cover on it, throw in some truly random pictures so they can list in on Amazon as "with illustrations"
Nothing about this is shady, the whole point of works being public domain is that anyone can publish them.
>then they charge a premium for it
No they don't, Wordsworth editions are really cheap

>> No.12253331

>>12253306
How the fuck are you going ask how and then quote the answer and then respond to that? Charging a premium doesn't mean they charge a lot, it means they charge more than it's worth. If you took something that's free and turned around and sold it for 10 cents that would be you charging a premium. Fuck you and your greentext.
