No, Dave McGowan has been around for ages. He does bomb with his knowledge of some of the history he goes into, but I would honestly recommend at least the first 2 or 3 chapters of this as general reading. The chapters on the Dutroux affair etc are actually a lot more convincing than I expected at first.

I think from memory it actually takes him quite a while to get to explicitly stating that.
I think he goes through a few case studies of a few serial killers and points out connections and coincidences etc and he does actually raise some legitimate questions, if I remember I was actually intrigued by a certain point he made linking either Bush or Clinton and Henry Lee Lucas case and some psychiatrist named Donald Lunde who keeps appearing.
So yes the first chapters are the best but that's not to say the rest of the book isn't. It's not the easiest read though.

Oh also, there's a chapter or maybe less on Propaganda Due (P2) in Italy and related groups in Europe which was really good, and that's all very easily independently verifiable even if little known, if you're not keen on conspiracy hypotheses in general.
That might be in another book though, it's been ages since I read programmed to kill.
