It’s the most honest look into the mind of an average woman I’ve ever come across. Suddenly, everything they do makes perfect sense within its context.

What's so honest about how the book portrays women? What do you think is so meaningful in it?

>> No.12212282

>>12212268
It’s honest in the sense that it makes you understand. The thoughts, attributes, and actions of Dorris give context to the way the majority of women think and go about their lives. It’s even heiled as honest by feminists, ironically to their own detriment.

What exactly did the book make you realize about women? What in it is at odds with feminism?

I’m not going to explain every aspect of the book, but it sheds light on a variety of topics. Friendships, relationships, work, social interaction and so on. I began to see Dorris in most of the women I know. It is to their detriment because they relate so strongly to a vapid, lazy, slob.

So you project your own interactions with women onto the book's depiction of a character? I guess you're free to do so.

>> No.12212338

>>12212323
No, the interactions just make more sense upon understanding the character. Women applaud the book, and relate heavily to Dorris. How is that projection?

Volcel. I was on top of a redhead and we were going to do it - but then I realized that I didn't want to be a father, but worse; I found myself briefly thinking of pushing her for abortion or the regret pill.
I despised my lust overcome my knowledge so much I decided to apply penalty. The girl probably hates herself for it because I never bothered explaining it to her.

>> No.12212355

>>12212338
I think you project because you seem to want to see in that character an embodiment of all women. What in the character's attitude do you think is so typical? What in it is celebrated by women in general? I personally don't know that book but I'm interested in how you read into it.

>> No.12212381

>>12212355
In all of my replies, I’ve stated the Dorris describes most, not all women. I find the character typical for two reasons. Firstly, women and particularly feminists openly relate to the character. Secondly, I’m not applying any new characteristics to any women I know. I’m simply analyzing the way I’ve previously and continuously seen them act, and then rationalizing the actions through the lens of the character women openly relate to. Suddenly, their actions make more sense. The book is celebrated by women because in 1931, they were supposed to be reserved and polite. Rather, the author defies this principle and portrays an honest depiction.

That’s the thing, feminists don’t get it wrong. The portrail is in fact accurate. I’m spite of the honesty, it’s not a flattering comparison. The character is lazy, gets fired from every job she holds. She spends all her money on the latest fashions while resenting her parents for charging her rent. Eventually, she simply turns to whoring herself out for things like expensive fur coats. All the while, she rationalizes her behavior on the bad intentions and behavior of men.

Because it simply is a good portrayal. The honesty in itself was an act of defiance. Modern women wouldn’t even find her contempable, every other one of them has a premium Snapchat or a sugar daddy.
