Trying to face the horrors of life head on and reading philosophy is pretty shit it turns out.

Recommend me your favourite works of escapism. Which books made you forget your suffering temporarily? I want to be lost in fiction for the holidays and don't have to think about real life. Please help me get comfy.

Genre fiction welcome if necessary.

The Sherlock Holmes books can be grim but they’re delightful! Very easy reads too.

Where shall you flee, OP? What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world if he lose his own soul? Turn and face the horror and do not avert your eyes. Witness the gruesome belly of this world, this incestuous cosmos. Behold, and be edified.

There is no other side op. There is only this chance to seize your chosen destiny and make it of it what you will before it passes. Or don’t. The choice is yours, but make it quickly before it is too late.
