every mainstream book store I've been to the past couple years has multiple tables just full of these poetry collections with minimalist black/white covers and the exact same subject matter. is this really all rupi kaur's fault? do women actually buy all of this shit?

I've often wondered a few things.

1. Who's actually buying it?

2. Does the author actually make a decent chunk off sales for this shit?

I studied poetry in college, and I absolutely adore it. But it's certainly one of the worst fucking things to be passionate about in the modern day for numerous reasons (not just economic ones).

I love it too anon. Sometimes it seems like I am the only one who cares. I even made an effort to look at the contemporary poetry scene and it was disgraceful. MInd you, these were people who had apparently won awards. It put me in a depressive state for a good 4 days. Even if it's lonely I love it still. This crap will be forgotten but the true beauty will stand :). I always want to share what I find in poetry but people tend to brush me off or just not understand. But I've accepted it.

I <3 you so platonically hardcore.

I actually don't know why I care about it. I just do. It seems to give me a structure in life, even the rather structure-less stuff. (I'm a writer of it.)

I'd really like to see what you've written if you wouldn't mind sharing it.

I can't write poetry, I just don't have the rhyme for it to be decent. But because of that I really do appreciate good poetry so seeing stuff like Rupi and every middle class white girl reading it only to see that it is sentences
cut in half like that really makes me sad.

There's probably good contemporary poets out there that we won't know about for several years. Hopefully
