Even Atomised? People claim that it's the best thing to come out of Europe after WWII.

Read it, then, and see if that assessment is true.

>> No.12185542

I only read Possibility of an Island, and some excerpts of Atomised. He is so fixated on the aging of the female body. It reads as juvenile. Like someone who never grew out of grad school.

No.

Atomised and The Map and The Territory are his best books.

I think you're the pleb for liking Houellebecq. You happen to like Modiano as well? Maybe Karl Ove? If so, I would say your tastes are very, very plebeian, baby.

It's not as if he is obsessed with senescence just for the sake of it. Did you just conveniently skip all of the excerpts where his concern is tied to the larger context of the liberalization of sexuality, and how these things have a part in creating the virulent cult of youth idolization?

Houellebecq mixes high and low culture so well that retards like you don't get it.

This book drops some nuclear level redpills on sexual relations, I tjought it was just memes. Especially that story with the chimp

It's been hopeless for a long time, from the very beginning. You will never represent, anon, a young girl's erotic dream. You have to resign yourself to the inevitable; such things are not for you. It's already too late, in any case. The sexual failure you've known since your adolescence, anon, the frustration that has followed you since the age of thirteen, will leave their indelible mark. Even supposing that you might have women in the future - which in all frankness I doubt - this will not be enough; nothing will ever be enough. You will always be an orphan to those adolescent loves you never knew. In you the wound is already deep; it will get deeper and deeper. An atrocious, unremitting bitterness will end up gripping your heart. For you there will be neither redemption nor deliverance. That's how it is

So what was the deal with the last scene with Tisserand? Why did the narrator bring the knife, was he sincerely hoping Tisserand would use it and murder someone? The narrator himself seemed to be losing his grip on sanity by that point either way, I kind of appreciated how matter of factly his psychotic episodes were portrayed towards the end of the novel. Pretty weak ending, but I guess that's life.

How the fuck is it unoriginal? It's literally the first novel of it's kind and Houellebecq is the only renowned author that deals with inceldom.

Yes, at least that what's I thought; life had become such a bore and so meaningless and benile for the narrator that he thought it would be funny to convince Tisserand to kill that guy. He found the only person who looks up to him, and instantly goes to abuse this newfound power. Fucked up.
>>12186053
Don't agree, there is no indication that tge protag wants to or is going to start a new life. If anything the ending contrasts his life with the beautiful forest, and iplies that he's going to do fuck all to start again. Or at least that's my view.

>> No.12186640

In the end the protag simply realizes that he missed on the point of living. It's too late for him. Maybe he'll try. He hoped something would happen if he moved out the City.

I'm not an atrocious neckbeard, I'm fit and pretty normal looking and have at least one interesting hobby, I've just literally never interacted with females in my life - not as friends, not in school growing up, and I'm NEET so I don't work with anybody apart from doing manual labour occasionally but then I'm paired with sweaty Romanians and my male relatives.
I feel like I have the potential to win a female's affections though.

You probably saw that picture of him and his wife floating around and that’s why you think she’s ugly. I would too if that’s all I saw, it makes her look pretty bad. However I saw her and Michel at a book signing and she looked waaaaay better in person. She has a god tier booty, you can just barely make it out from the front it’s so big. Her titties while not huge are ridiculously supple and milky. She had on a light sweater and you could make out the shape of her huge nipples, it was quite erotic. The face is so so but it doesn’t matter when you yard ass and titties like her.
