/lit/, maybe you can help me.

In high school I remember reading an older, fictional book about a middle eastern man that traveled to the land of the nords or vikings, I can't remember which.

I remember that during this man's stay he assisted them in fighting monsters, or was there to witness it, one of the two. The entire book was about them fighting said monsters. I think I vaguely remember mist being involved.

It's a pretty vague description, I've been goggling it, but I'm lost. Anyone have any idea of the what story I'm remembering?

Yeah, it's called Bible.

Beowulf?

the thirteenth warrior

Sounds like the movie The Thirteenth Warrior.

Perhaps it's based on a book, I don't know.

It's based on the Beowulf story, so maybe.

eaters of the dead by michael crichton?

never actually read it, just saw the movie

The Viking Trilogy?
By Henry Treece?

>> No.1215378

I'm pretty sure it was Eaters of the Dead, but I'll look into other suggestions.

It's not Beowulf, I wiki'd that first to make sure I wasn't confused. There's no mention of a middle eastern traveler in that story, not that I remember anyways.

OP here again, yeah, it was the Michael Crichton book, which incorporated Beowulf (changed it up a bit), and was apparently the basis for The Thirteenth Warrior. Funny how that works.

Thanks /lit/.
