Honestly, I am one of those non-fiction nerds
But I can't read maths textbooks
I like mathematics and solving problems and the content of the books isn't overly difficult
But math textbooks authors objectively have the worst prose

I think it's about your teachers instilling that specific way of thought into your head while you're still a kid or an early adolescent.
I have great deductive reasoning, am great at programing, and have an iq of 128. I am not saying this to brag, just pointing out that I'm not a dumbass. I am still shit at math.
