I'm reading Wind-up Bird Chronicle right now. My wife asked me what it's about and I couldn't think up an answer. I just ended up saying "it's a mystery where the only mystery is whether or not there's a mystery. With flashbacks to WWII."
I'm 2/3rds of the way through and that's the best I can come up with.
