Been looking to improve my vocabulary in day-to-day life and wondering what books would help with this. Went ahead and bought Dante's Inferno and thinking about HP Lovecraft books. Suggestions?

I really enjoyed call of cthulu and dunwich horror by HP lovecraft.

I think you can improve your vocab through reading. Even better is if you keep a journal and write about what you are reading a bit after each session.

Go on Wiktionary every morning, find their word of the day, and find an excuse to use it throughout the day.

e.g. if someone says they prefer tea to coffee or something, accuse them of being a heresiarch.

You'll look autistic af but it works.

Just read. Read news, literature, scientific journals, whatever interests you. Your vocabulary will develop quickly.

I'm on the third volume right now and I love it. It can be quite cumbersome to get through, at least is it for me, since there's a lot of old archaic words to look up.

vocabulary is for fucking retards, unless you're esl. most complex concepts can be explained in simple language. creativity in writing rarely rests on vocabulary. but if your goal is to impress retards however, go for it

I think people say they want to improve their vocabulary but really would rather just speak more eloquently and have a better grasp of general vocabulary that comes form reading high quality fiction. hes also just getting into literature so its good to start with something thats short, not too complicated but really high quality anyway
