The idea of time has been haunting me this year, for the first time in my life too. I feel the weight and sadness of losing everyone and everything before my unavoidable death, and it saddens me. What are some good /lit/ for this feel?

The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro is a wonderful novel about time (and memory).

Everything in the physical world is temporary and therefore worthless. When you are dying, you will see your possessions and social status fade to black around you. Now, without distractions, you will see a reflection of who you truly are. What kind of person you are, and what you place value in, will influence whether you are happy or terrified in this moment.

>and what you place value in.
If everything in this human world is worthless, how could you possibly conjure up some value in your final moments? What do you think is a good thing to think back on while you are on your death bed?

Why does time seem to go so very slowly when you're young but seems to fly when you're older?

Try Seneca's 'on the shortness of life'. I didn't like it but you might, it's only ~30-40 pages anyway.

because when you're four years old 4 years is your whole life. so 1 year is 25% of your life, thats your frame of reference. when your twenty years old 5 years is 25% of your life so 5 years to a twenty year old feels like 1 year for a four year old

its all an illusion

Because things humans make up things that have more value than the existing world. It doesn’t matter if they are real or not. You don’t actually own anything but yourself and you’ll realise that when you are dying
