I am very fond of Dumas, but he gets dismissed around here because many if his books were serials. Many of the same people then forget that some of dostos best work originated as serials.

Which translation is the Vintage edition? It doesn't seem to say anywhere I look.

My favourite book of all time. It's stunning. It has everything I love in a book that I read for genuine pleasure.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I didn't love The Three Musketeers

The video game you tuber let's player and arguably it's originator : DarksydePhil made a souls (of or pertaining to dark or demon souls video game franchises in addition to bloodborne) character called Dumass or Dumas and from then on I can only associate such words with the well intended warm chuckles of Phil Burnell and his extravagant reactions to the goings on in the video game. When the video ends I think to myself . Which is real? My reality or the videogame? Are video game creators some kind of shaman that are able to bring such amazing alien experiences before us from nothing ? In our world there are so many strange beautiful things and to deny the spirituality of it all is a testament to ignorance and an unwillingness for independent thought. It is funny to me and likely not a coincidence that the places where I've found the most atheists have been in the humanities and social sciences. While the natural sciences are abundant with spiritualists and theists. It is even more funny that those atheists wish to cite natural sciences as a reason for atheism despite never studying it extensively themselves. This leads to the disturbing notion and extended adolescence that comes from the beautification and romanticization of nihilism. I see such misguided fools all around me in the Internet and off it. Jokes such as pic related are simply awful and merely show how much of a child you are. You want to kill yourself and hate yourself ? Don't talk to me so casually about such nonsense . Get mental help or find some way to mature yourself . Stop bludgeoning yourself into inactivity.

Easily the best, most comprehensive history book I've read. I cannot fathom why /lit/ sleeps on Peter Watson, who is a brilliant writer.

don't feel bad about it, so did Dumas, the protagonists' names and back stories change halfway through.

I liked The Astonished Man by Cendrars.
Not quite as over the top as Moravagine but still pretty eventful.
