So i was readinig this some years ago and really liked it. I want to get into reading now a little bit more again and need some recommendations. Anything you guys can recommend?

Kokoro is a slowwww book but really good, really cut me.

If you’d like more Japanese writing then a lot of it can be great, I’d stay away from Akutagawa as his work hasn’t aged that well for a western audience but Kawabata and Endo might be up your street.

Other than that I mean, Kokoro is amazing but it really is one of the slowest fucking books in the world so in comparison anything else is going to be a breeze. Head into a bookshop and look around innit

I went through it at a quick pace as well esp given Japanese prose is quite easy to read translated, but it’s literally a bunch of letters with fuck all happening for most of the book. Like i wasn’t bored, but I could really see someone new to reading being bored u kno? It’s a slow book in that sense.

Also just remembered there’s a book called Kinshu and I’ve forgotten the author.. but it’s a more modern-day book extremely inspired by Kokoro and I really liked it, a lot shorter and a different sort of power but also so similar.

Looked up the author and it’s Miyamoto.
