Would like to get into hermetics, esoteric, and alchemy, where should I begin and advance too?

Alchemy is LITERALLY a metaphor for extricating ideas from each other, collapsing them into homogenity, and realizing their heterodoxy.

Out of the ones I've read by far the most entertaining has been Miguel Serrano's Esoteric Hitlerism stuff.

There's a pdf of Hitler the Ultimate Avatar online and it is incredibly amusing

Serrano is great, but rather advanced for a beginner--it will only appear to be disorganized and unhinged to the uninitiated. Grant's The Magical Revival is still a powerful and challenging work, but the right sort of person can begin there. If it's too difficult, then you'll know the occult isn't for you.

It's a disappointing path- 99% of the field is people using cool-sounding words to say absolutely nothing. Since there's no standard doctrine or school, there's zero quality control and you end up with new-age bullshit.
Old-school alchemy and astrology are interesting because they were the science of their day- learning the basics will reveal human obsession with natural relations, complements, and systems. Jean Dubuis's Spagyrics and Mineral Alchemy series is interesting in that it involves actual chemistry experiments alongside occult meditations. I never actually did any of the rituals since I'm a Christian and think it's a bad idea, but it explains the significance of everything in detail, if simple knowledge is what you're after.

Can you be more specific about what interests you? Like are you trying to create various -things- via alchemy, or are you looking for an esoteric belief system, or what?

Psychology and Alchemy by Jung is a great book on the subject.
