What novel should I read first? I know that Snow Crash is his most famous, but is there something else I should read first?

Snow Crash is the shortest, so start with that. It'd suck to be midway through one of his door stoppers and find you don't like him.

The only problem with Snow Crash is that too much of its future tech and social satire is already here.
