I do.

Pretty sure everyone who has read him likes him. Pope has the problem that not enough people have read him, and those who have are all gentlemen scholars who like him. To get a discussion going on /lit/ there needs to be a critical mass of posters who have read the writer in question, and crucially enough morons who can post stupid opinions. Until Pope is read by morons, there will never be real discussion about him.

Heroic couplets shit A SHIT.
Rhyme is fine but having a long narrative made up entirely of perfect couplets is too much of a contrivance. As a result Pope says absolutely nothing deep in his Homer nor in his own The Rape of The Lock and The Dunciad because he quite literally cannot.
His Pastorals and Epistles are decent though, and only that - DECENT.

This. It also makes them all sound the same, Pope is the most dull and unimaginative poet ever. Why can't popeposter use his energy to shill people who deserve it better? Like Laurence Sterne for example, the man was doing post-irony before modernist trash.

i finally changed my mind on this guy. I hated him forever but now I realize I was but a pleb that didn't see his artfulness

I used to talk to my brother about him and he'd show me passages that he loved and I just did not get it at all, but for some reason I get it now.
