If translating books with 100% accuracy is impossible, then why bother to strive for accuracy and instead just write whatever sounds good in the language you're translating to, even if it includes the most "corrupting" changes to the original text?

you need to give the broadest definition possible that will resonate with a wide variety of English speaking cultures. If you get too subjective in the translation, you risk being misinterpreted by the majority.

Translating is a complex thing and lots of different factors need to be considered. That's why there are so many disagreements on the subject, people prefer different things.
