Stop making useless threads

So you can annoy your profs. and shitpost about it with us

Reading it will instantly irritate some people so much that they'll hate you forever.

>> No.11968876

I don't see anyone who likes books and reading wouldn't be curious about reading this book. Stop being an attention-seeking cunt and posting about a book we have already have thousands of threads about and read it, cunt.

You shouldn't

Something about his writing just feels like a carefully curated air flow. It's nice

I don't think even 5% of lit has read IJ. Especially the ones who shitpost about it.

After I finished The Brothers Karamazov I wanted to try something new.
I bought it, made it a few chapters completely lost the entire time. Some parts I still enjoyed despite being lost. I put it down and haven't picked it up in a while. I don't intend to start again any time soon. It does not seem worth it.

How far did you get? If you didn't get past the first 100 pages I think you should begin it again at some point because it's a well-known meme that the first 150 or so pages of IJ are the hardest and after that it becomes a lot easier. Make sure to use the IJ wiki if you weren't already. Also, there are a few Brothers K references in IJ.

Got maybe a chapter or so past the weed binge chapter which was amazing and is the reason I'll start back up again. Not sure which page that was. I discovered the wiki after a couple chapters so I think I'll just restart.

"Once again, desperate times were calling for desperate measures. A vagina, after all, is just an orifice: it shouldn't matter who it belongs to. As I emptied my sore testicles in that old, wrinkly uterus, I felt at peace with the universe; that was until I looked up and remembered I had just fucked my own mother. When you have to choose between death and incest, the latter begins to sound alluring; even exciting, I'd say. And finally, 85 year olds are way mote flexible and wet than I ever thought. Being mommy's boy just got harder."
And this is just one among many great quotes from this insanely good book.

I bought it the day it came out and I've read it numerous times. Outside all the blather around it, it's a profoundly brilliant and sad book that is a genuine masterpiece. Consider it a rite of passage. Read it to find out what a novel is capable of doing. There is literally nothing else like it.

So you got like maybe 50 pages in? If that

The best advice going in is don't expect to understand all of it on the first read. There's so much info you'll never be able to grasp it all. Focus on the dates and the sponsored years or else you'll get lost. The footnotes are fucking annoying but crucial. For all its sadness it's also funny as hell. Wish I was in your shoes again.
