I'm afraid to read, I'm afraid I read some manipulative propaganda that will make me useful idiot for someone smarter than me.

I'm not smart enough to tell when I'm reading smart stuff and when I'm not.

So /lit/ how do you vet your books before you start reading them?

You keep reading until you're smart enough to know what is bullshit and what is not

im just hyper skeptical about everything. I developed this method for dealing with mental illness actually, I do a little dialogue in my head 'ok anon what can we actually state without ambiguity about x, let us work through what we know and what might be plausible'. It almost always ends up with me saying 'we don't really know fuck all but we can sort of fumble our way through if we do x, because it seems to work'.

funny you say that, reading Hume always gives me this feeling of 'finally somebody sensible saying sensible things'. I havent read that much of him though
