Is Philosophy a shit major for someone who doesn't know what they want to do. I know it can be benefical for Graduate school/Law school but I was planning on only doing undergrad. Is the Philosophy curriculum at State Universities even worthwhile?

If you don't know what to do then no, absolutely not. Unless you have a passion for it, or a long term plan that includes it, I don't recommend you pursue philosophy in higher education.

What i would advise you to do, is to just double major in philosophy and some stem-degree that will allow you to be a cog in the machine. Philosophy will help you understand that "true" meaning of all of this if you let it. Chances are you still wont know what to do when you graduate college, but to live in thjs system you have to be a cog in the machine, so just major in something that will allow you to live simply and sufficiently in the system you were born in. But I would still study philosophy so that you wont be another drone in the machine, but be cognizant of your place.

Ultimately do what YOU want to do. If i could do it over again, i wouldnt rush into going to university and take some time off to figure out what you want, it will also allow you to mature without jeopordizing your "future".

Or are you already in uni, and just trying tk figure out what you want to study?

t. Philo senior, wishing that i double majored in stem (physics or comp sci) and philosophy.

I'd say so yeah. I mean, I wish things were different but in this economy/society you got to be able to make a living. Better not to get into debt over something you're not sure about.

Yeah I'm already a sophomore and need to decide something. I wish I would've taken a year off in retrospect. The problem with me is that Im mildly interested in many things but I can't see myself actually doing any of these things for the rest of my life. But like you said, you kind of have to accept being a "cog in a machine".
