The ego is in control of the outer perspective
The inner perspective is what we use for self reflection
The ego and the inner self, are the same individual split into seperate personalities.
Christianity allows one to merge the two into a singular self, no division in dichotomies. Along the pathway Of God, we learn Christ is the ideal, inner and outer. By his words we learn that Christ is also inside of us, the two entities that make up the self start to correlate between the two more and more. Through prayer and faith onto God we understand that Christ molds us in his image - fully man and fully divine. Man, the outer, God the inner, as The voice that rules our thoughts and action.
The expression of the Ego is uncontrolled when the two dichotomies diverge, any division between allows chaos, false idols, and uncontrollable sin to grow the seperation further and further.
