People who think stoicism is about being rigid and passive are the same people that think Buddhism is about sitting cross-legged in a mountain temple until you reach enlightenment.


I highly recommend the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius and Zeno's Enchiridion as an intro to stoicism. There's lots of good stuff there
