is self awareness related to philosophy

is it easier with people who are self aware to be philosophical?

Philosophy IS self awareness. Those that are not self aware can not understand the nature of philosophy.

If you aren’t self aware I don’t consider you human.

That's right, philosophy, that is to say Hegelianism, is the pathetically servile work, the reactive, fearful ressentiment that toils at preserving a Self, remembering it, erinnering it, instead of staring into the abyss and wasting all personal identity in an explosion of libidinal jissom.

This.
I read philosophy books for four months, leaving my flat to buy groceries. I got tired of it and actually went out of my flat for stuff other than groceries and realised that you need to apply what you've read. So all I've read was for nothing. You need to live philosophy, as well as read it.

Its not even about reading. For one to read a book of philosophy only means that a book was read. Critical thinking and higher thought are not achieved by reading books but by asking that old question "why". A book can give you insight to others philosophy, but to claim it as your own thoughts of what philosophy is you miss a very integral aspect of thinking; Free thinking.
I say, there is no worse philosopher than a teacher of philosophy. In this it is true that philosophy must be lived, rather than learned.

He's right, and I say this as a Schopenhauerian.
It's all rotten shit now.

Since you were born after Hegel, yes, philosophy is pretty much the activity of the Thought thinking about itself. Some would claim that even if you were born before Hegel you would also be self referencing but not realizing it.

In Plato’s dialogue between the general and Socrates he admitted that only the host can be wiser for inviting the teacher than the teacher can be for teaching when the general was frustrated in anger at not being able to think as clearly as Socrates
