Small town created for winners of a lottery. Winners get houses, jobs, everything secured for them unlike in the real world. Two men are caretakers of the place, mayorlike figures in other words. The village is a government test facility and they begin testing propoganda on the new habitats. One caretaker begins abusing his power. Other wants to stop him but can't. Village eventually stops listening to outside news and recesses into drones.

Side note: each person in the village are alone in the world I. E. Formally homeless, family dead, or otherwise estranged from other human beings. Deals with addiction as a primary theme.

Main character is diagnosed with "heart crushing loneliness". The doctor prescribes him a sort of antidepressant that causes him to hallucinate and see the girl of his dreams. Despite the side effects he keeps taking the pills because he falls in love with the girl which has actually helped his condition. Eventually the medication is discontinued and he runs out and sinks back into his old ways. He goes back to the doctor only to discover the doc killed himself. He also finds a shit ton of empty pill bottles in a draw revealing the doc had been on the medication much longer then the main character had. We see him frantically searching through the pill bottles only to find one lone pill. Fade out to him holding the last pill and the gun the doc killed himself with. Alternate ending is he leaves the office without finding the pill and sees the girl walking on the street.

More of a short story then a novel really.

I scraped a story about a man being "possessed" more or less. Rather than being controlled by a supernatural force, the demonic entity is it's own being antagonizing the protag. Somehow through luck or intervention the protag is pushed into surreal and horrific circumstances while dealing with this demon subtly pulling the strings and corrupting him. The protag spirals, sinking lower and lower because of the demon and ultimately leads to complete self destruction. I'm a fuck awful writer so i have no idea how to write the dynamic or said circumstances but i think it's a cool idea. I'm also sure it's been done before so i don't know how to differentiate the story.

Coming up with new ideas is like the most frustrating thing ever, it's mindnumpingly enjoyable at start but not being able to finish them due limited time is, dare I say, triggering. Sometimes I prefer to not have my brain overflow with ideas.

Reading others ideas is only fun when the person can actually present it well, and the quality is sinking with every passing year.

Philosophical enquiry finally reaped some answers as people discover that the universe they live in is comprised of an energy which fuels intellectual thought and discussion. With every new idea, the energy dips lower and it in turn results in the upcoming ideas growing dumber and dumber. The world authorities realize that they are gonna face an energy shortage soon as the data points out. Dumb ideas only consume very less energy and therefore are encouraged by the 'authorities' to maintain the energy level. Our protagonist has the most original idea anyone in the world has had in a long time but dispelling it would use up the entirety of the remaining energy. Authorities find out about this and try to neuter the protagonist.

Ending ought to be something with the protagonist solving the energy problem or with the population perishing except for him and then he kills self.

I've got this thing sitting on the backburner for a while now, haven't made much progress.

Basic premise is there's this girl whose parents were killed by a bunch of AIs in her infancy. One of the AIs (for now it's AI Mom) felt immense guilt for it, and decided to raise the now orphaned child into her teens, training her to become a medium (basically a super Hackerman with a mind-machine link that allows em to fuck with computers) One day some pirate asshole crashes into AI mom's place, and psychic orphan starts growing curious about the world outside AI mom's shelter. So she fixes up pirate asshole's ship and convinces pirate asshole to help take her to her true parents after a couple bribes or two maybe, and that was a good idea. It was actually kind of definitely a retarded idea because pirate asshole recently defected from a gang of bigger pirate assholes and now the big pirate assholes have two juicy high-priority targets. So a lot of space bullshit happens, big pirate assholes get their hands on a super AI dickhead who tries to get psychic orphan to kill the pirate asshole but that goes under. Eventually psychic orphan finds her dead parents and the Patriots win the Super Bowl.

A highschool teenage romance that features a boy lusting after a childhood friend and crush. The story continues like anybody would guess with some minor conflict and all sort of common tropes liter every nuance of characterization and setting. Subtle, weird things happen left or right that you wouldn't consider of note. This goes on for a good two hundred pages. One day in the middle of class our highschool boy "wakes up". Blinks and appears in some wight washed sterile room with a table, some building blocks and a colorful floor mat with a camera in the corner of the room. There's a mirror on the wall that reveals himself as a middle aged, obese ugly mother fucker. Panics and runs through the door to the room. Eventually discovers he's been a part of a pharmaceutical research experiment against his will for years. Loaded with drugs and shaking off hypnosis he tries to flee and escape the facility.

For me the ideas are one of the hardest part.
All the ideas I tend to get are a single concept, a single object, a single character, a single scene, or a single setting, that budge my head with writing about them.

But any actual story doesn't come attached to them. I don't get more than one character, I don't get any conflict, any chain of events...

A theater play about a dysfunctional couple. The man is a guy in his mid 30s who works to support his girlfriend, the girl is a 22 year old NEET who ran from home to live in her boyfriend's apartment because her mother insisted on her getting a job or go back to college and she was too lazy to do that. The guy originally was content with fucking his hot girlfriend every time he came from work, but after that lost its luster he began to see what an unbearable lazy bitch she is. They have an argument, he loses his cool and he slaps her, with such misfortune that she breaks her neck on the fall, dying instantly. He starts panicking and she starts reprimanding him for killing her. That's about the start of act 1. The rest of the play (two more acts) consists on the couple talking about how to deal with the situation, all while he tries to maintain his composure and keep anyone from seeing her body, all the while she keeps bugging him, cracking jokes, making passive aggressive comments, etc. Later on she starts decomposing, and they even have some serious discussion on their relationship and what kind of people they are.
The entire play takes place in one room, and the couple are the only characters in stage for most of it, although other characters will knock on the door and interact with them without ever showing up.
Intended as a dark comedy with a bit of drama.

Title: Professional Females

Blurb: In a world without women, there's still a need for female companionship. These men supply it. They are professional females.

Jacket Description: It was the Eva Virus that killed all the women. All the wives, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and daughters of the world were killed within two weeks from the launch of the virus on New Years Day, 2022.

But with males occupying 90% of the world's technical jobs, the world didn't stop even though more than half its population died. Millions committed suicide. More fell into hapless despair. But most continue to live. Scientists searched for a cure to the Eva Virus that prevented the birth of female humans. In this world of men, there was still a demand for women - or the closest thing to them. Science and surgery provided the means for some to fill this role.

This is the story of one young man born right when the world was robbed of women. A boy who didn't want to be a soldier or a mechanic or a technician. He decided to become a professional female.

He had no idea where being one would take him.

A boy gets on the subway one night and ends up not only at the wrong station due to unscheduled service changes, but in the wrong universe. With all trains out of service, this boy now has no option but to walk home through an unmanned city where animals have filled humanity's place and are ruled over by warring animistic gods

At the moment, there are a few versions of this story
>the boy is not alone on the train. 8 others are on the train that night and they all have their own quests (this is the version I've fleshed out the most but I'm blocked on the plot because I can't decide where to go)

In the future there is something called your Social Medial Favorability Index (SMFI), a government-sanctioned numerical score of your worthiness as a human being as determined by a complex algorithm that takes county of all your activity both online and off. Your score can range from 0 to 100; if you hit 0, you are executed, at 100 you become an esteemed member of society and are invited to join a closed-doors forum of others like you.

The protag, let's call him Ben, is your typical 20-something wagecuck working some dead-end job. He meets a girl one night while out with friends and arranges a date with her later; on the date she slips him something that knocks him out, and the next morning he wakes up feeling funny.

He goes to the doctor and after some X-rays, it is determined that he no longer has a brain. The doc prescribes him some Prozac and sends him on his way.

Over the next week, Ben's SMFI falls from a healthy 65 to a paltry 15. As his numbers slip, he loses his job and apartment, and has to take menial work for seemingly no reason. Thinking his accounts have been somehow compromised by this girl who stole his brain, he appeals the score, but is rejected by an automated system which informs him that the algorithm is infallible and, though its complexities may not be known, it is always correct in its assessments.

All the other people working with him in the warehouse also have scores which are <20, marking them as pariahs of society. They form a loose collective of like-minded people who seek to tear down the system, all rallied around a pirate-radio personality who illegally broadcasts on the dark web and certain AM stations.

As his score slips ever closer to 5, the point of apprehension by the authorities for mandatory civil re-education seminars, he joins a radical underground movement of undesirables. It is during this phase that he learns the truth of the world, which is just basically every crazy conspiracy is true. Flat Earth, one world government, MKUltra, bilderberg, everything. The world is controlled by their local ISP, Blackrock Media & Cable services.

As he digs deeper into this radical cell, he comes to understand that it itself is an arm of Blackrock Media & Cable, just another tool in the war of information. The group is raided by authorities, and though he has done nothing to try and take them down, he is credited for "blowing the whistle" on the extremists and becomes a national celebrity. His SMFI score jumps to 100, and he receives an invitation to the selective meeting of Socio-cultural Influencers.

Still deeply disturbed by the problems of the world, he decides to make an impassioned appeal to the Influencers to change the world into something better. Once inside the supposed meeting, however, he finds only one individual, a man named Weaver.

1/2

>> No.11827925

>>11827921
Weaver is an omnipotent being of nearly Godlike powers who is the CEO and CTO of Blackrock Media & Cable. After Ben's appeal, Weaver informs him that he (Weaver) has no more power over anything that Ben does; he reaveals they do not exist in the true reality, but a facsimile of the real world. No one in this world has ever had an original thought, idea, or emotion; they are all just fragments of thought from elsewhere, from someone beyond. As fictional characters, they have absolutely no power at all to change the real world.

Increasingly despondent, Ben asks how, if he cannot change the world, can he at least attain some form of freedom. Weaver responds that the only means by which he can do that is to simply no longer exist. Once the story he was meant to anchor is over, he can be free from it.

And then the book ends.

I just want to make a modern Phillip K Dick book. So something that is paranoid drenched in paranoia and surreal imagery, as well as a commentary on the interplay between fiction and reality. Could be a fun way to satirize some shit, as well.

Broken family, mother gets terminal cancer and two bastard sons have to take care of her, the story intertwined with recurring folk dreams with a mix of lovecraftian horror and medieval realism. The relationship eventually breaks down as each of the characters spiral into their own downfall. More of a short story than a novel desu.

Planned to write at least 4 books, the first:
Set in a fictional afterlife that is split between many realms. It follows the adventures of four characters who learn of a plot to overthrow each of the kings of their realms.
Their naivety believing that they can save the world leads to more disastrous consequences. Those that were facilitating the coup win with their citizen's full support. The four characters escape with their lives onto Earth. Stranded and alone.
The second book would follow the main characters many years later, as they discover the true purpose of what the afterlife is, and why it was fractured. The victors from the first book move onto phase two of their plan; to merge the land of the living with the world of the dead. Once again, they succeed. Earth becomes a bittersweet environment of people reconnecting with their loved ones, and falling victim to the creatures of the afterlife.
Book 3
Yet another timeskip, the four characters try to convince the humans that most of the spirits are harmless. Yet humanity has different ideas altogether. The afterlife offers many diverse energy sources, obtaining this technology has allowed the humans to technologically progress and take a different path down history. WWI is delayed. Futuristic cities with 20th century architecture now reign supreme.
The four main characters have grown more powerful and wiser over the course of the three books, and are now monarchs of their own realms, merged with earth. They establish an academy as a sanctuary for their own kind, to strengthen their numbers. And chose four potential students who will take over their kingdoms.
Book 4, the academy creates many potential ghosts, to settle on their champion, each fights in a team representing which realm to rule. At the end of the tournament, the four monarchs are nowhere to be found. The four new champions set out to find where they have disappeared to. All the while, the humans begin to mount an assault on the afterlife, attacking places of power which weaken all of their spirits.
The champions find the four old characters, who have been sealed away to prevent their purpose from coming true.
The masterminds for the entire events of the books reveal themselves. The places of power are the six seals of the apocalypse, should the four monarchs unite to activate the seventh seal, and awaken the grim reaper, the apocalypse will begin.

In order to defeat humanity, It does.

Trust me, you should just end the story sometime after

>He goes back to the doctor only to discover the doc killed himself. He also finds a shit ton of empty pill bottles in a draw revealing the doc had been on the medication much longer then the main character had.

And before

>We see him frantically searching through the pill bottles only to find one lone pill.

Guess it'll take a bit to explain.
Each of the characters work together, one is trying to find herself and make sense of the afterlife, since she has rarely seen any of it.
She starts off weak and clueless, and latches onto the others for help. Eventually she is forced to grow and mature by herself when she is crowned queen of her realm.
Another character is in constant combat with himself after he was denied entry to his own afterlife realm by dying as a coward, instead of a proud warrior. He now spends his time trying to earn his redemption, and by doing something heroic in this scale, is hoping to be pardoned by his gods.
The third character is a obsessed with power, she yearns for control of everything and is not afraid of burning bridges should it help her. She ends up alone for the most part. Only after she has had her taste of power does she realise that wanting to rule isn't all what its cut out to be. And decides to find other ways to make her realm less of a shithole.
The fourth and final of the four main characters has no home, he is cursed with an entity that takes over his body from time to time, he was saved by the other three, and in turn owes them a debt, so he follows along with them.

I suppose I don't really have their proper motivations planned, right now it's just a "the discover they could save the world" scenario. Since they don't have anything to call their own, they each want to make things better for themselves, some in a selfish manner, others in a selfless manner.

Now that sounds a lot more interesting, although details on what makes their journey worth following are still in short supply.

The third one would be the only one I'd want to know more about based on the info given, she's not an overly typical protagonist before the change of heart, promises a lot external and internal conflict and hints a decent backstory over what caused her drive for power/control. The others fee too much like side characters already seen too many times, though obviously there is only so much room for individuality in a story outline.

>> No.11833469

>>11833427
Truthfully I don't exactly know what would make their journey worth following. Right now I'm expecting the unique setting to be the selling point.

I see what you mean when you say they feel like side characters, it's hard having four main characters in a book, because you have to do everything four times over. Although I still like the character with the redemption story, even if he feels a bit bland, it gives him plenty of optimism, and he drags the others behind in tow because they're all not really sure what they want in life. So they let the tide take them.

A bildungsroman about three young men of differing characteristics who embark on a journey across the country after the dissolution of civic order (I may avoid explaining why SHTF because it doesn't really matter).
The first chapter will be about two of the main characters killing (and crucifying?) a pedophile who is several years older than them who diddled them as kids. Such an act was only possible because of societies collapse of course. The rest of the book will cut back to an unnamed mustached man, ex-cop and foil to the protagonists, who is the father of the pedophile and is following them in search of revenge.
Most of the book will be a series of events and metaphorical encounters that the characters have along the journey to the Rockies, where they hope to escape the violence of the great loss of stability.
I am of the opinion that concepts like logic, grammar and sensibility are all secondary to artistic expression, and I plan to ignore them if they threaten to get in the way of communication.
Are my ideas shitty?

Honestly, it starts off sounding intriguing. But the latter half feels slow, I would take it in a different direction, although where I cannot say.
It just seems a little bland that 'humans are chaotic, to escape chaos, go unto isolation'.
At least, that's what I get from it.

> journey to the Rockies
>'humans are chaotic, to escape chaos, go unto isolation'.
This is more of a practical concern of the characters than anything thematic. The climax of the novel is going to be something big and ridiculous and involve the meeting of the characters (if they're all still alive) and their pursuer. I've been considering a scene having to do with a resurrected Nathan Bedford Forrest and William "Burning" Sherman facing off in a sort of second civil war, but the purpose, timing, and length of such a passage is still unclear to me.

Can work of course but it's a competitive fucking market, mate.

Yeah, after 2-3 it gets trickier but it also gives you more perspectives to look at your world, besides it's fucking fun to write once you get past initial hurdles. (So probably more fun to rewrite)

It's a lot down to presentation which is a different skill altogether. The best idea can sound like shit if told wrong. Back when I used to post my stuff, I had different outlines and greentexts for the same story, and shit, depending on the version, the feedback varied a lot to say the least.

Though the quality of presentation sure went down over the years.
