Have you ever tried doing nothing but reading in your free time?

I usually feel too tired to read after a couple of hours, but with my sleep and work schedule I have around 8 free hours a day, and I can't help but wonder how productive they'd be if I could just read during most of this period.

whenever I have the time I can read in excess of 12 hours a day
eventually I enter a fugue state where I stop noticing the passage of time and begin to lose awareness of my body. I get so engrossed in the book that it's almost like sleeping in that if someone pokes me the shock I feel is similar to the shock of being shook awake on the verge of sleep. Occasionally gf will bring me a cup of tea which is nice of her, but most of the time I forget about it for a few hours and it gets cold.
I can do this with other media too - I once played mount and blade warband for a solid 20 hour session, during which I cooked and ate two large frozen pizzas, barely aware of the kitchen as I planned out my next moves in my head.

I used to do this before I found image boards
I can't wait for the day at least 4chan gets taken down for ever
I don't know what is it about it that is so addictive
I was literally able to get rid of an opiate "phase" but this place is stronger

I did truly once believe this phrase to be just a lighthearted little meme, but with every passing year during which the hours I spent here also increased in tandem, these letters first became ominous and then finally disconsolate. Now the truth is laid bare and the sad anons behind this utterance are merely trying to mend this ill fate with tragic irony.

learning that a meme is not just a meme is one of the most soul-crushing experiences this site has to offer

it is the intermittent reinforcement.
you never know when an interesting thread might give you a nice dopamine hit so you're compelled to browse for hours every day just for such an occasion.

You should take up an instrument or something.

Today was the perfect day for reading. I was quite invested into the story of what I was reading and therefore read for about 3 hours in one sitting.

I’m glad I spent my afternoon that way.

Just as important as the act of reading itself are the phases of digesting what you've just read, senpai.
