Are books by Henry Rollins any good? I dig his music and spoken word. I am thinking about checking out his books

No. Nothing Henry Rollins has ever written is good. It's angsty, trying hard to be edgy bullshit. It's a guy who read too much Bukowski and took everything completely seriously. Typing up a livejournal entry and breaking every sentence into a line is bad poetry.

I am a huge fan of Rollins. They are interesting, you get a good insight into his mindset when he was writing them. The writing is not good though.

The only Rollins book I read had a lot of profanity in it for profanity's sake, and the last 38 pages had the word "Shit" written repeatedly, and I was frankly disappointed in him as an artist and author and came to see him as not only a "giant douche" but also as a "turd sandwich" at the same time.... I hope this helps do not pay money for disappointment

Look, let's cut the "suffering artist" bullshit, because Rollins refuses to extend it to others, so why should he be considered super special just because you seem to like him!?! I mean I can think of a lot of grumpier, more talented folks who had a lot more personal suffering experienced than to see someone else get shot-- Miles Davis living life of racism from the 1930's on trumps getting to see acquaintance shot.
