Books on how to figure out what I want?
I've always bent myself toward what others suggest/think is best for me.

your diary desu

when I maintained a diary, I would only comment on what happened what I felt toward those events.
I find it hard to still explore what I want in it.

I had two years of notes and all it was, was me just shitting on myself and actions. endless worries about my inadequacies.
I remember crying because I never did anything relevant with my life. That was two years ago. I don't have anything to be proud of.

Heidegger goes into authenticity.

I've heard that a fixation on authenticity will only yield doubts.

Well, you're right. It seems hard to distinguish the authentic from the inauthentic. It seems like it'll only have those questioning it further crawl back into their head.
I will still read what Heidegger says about it, though.

Its a place to start. It took me almost 30 years to get orientated. Accept your self as you are and give your self the permission to learn and explore. Life is beautiful.

I can see how life is beautiful, but reading over the words learn and explore makes me wince.
I've learnt in schooling, and explored but it seems everything I've done leaves me unsatisfied.

Explore sexually, have you smelled all the smells? Have you yet pissed after a partner's shit?

I've never really explored anything sexually. Getting a partner is too hard now it seems like. It seems like everyone just wants to fuck you over.

Seems like self-help stuff?
I was hoping for themes or something, maybe more exploration.
Self help books have never helped.

>> No.11804341

Do you really need a book for that?

Take a piece of paper and write everything you think you want, whatever sounds good or attractive.
Take each one and analyze the reasons why you want it and estimate effort, time, resources needed.
Eliminate ones that aren't in accordance with your real values or aren't worth it.
Sort the rest by most wanted.

Do this every day or week or month.
Eventually you'll find out what you really want.

Unironically, Jordan Peterson. His "liberalism as traditional" political view is a bit lacking, but every person I've personally gotten to engage with his works has come out of it significantly better off.
