you know you can tell someone has no idea what they're talking about when they call the Beats postmodern.

they're literally personified by their post war doubts that fall well in line with modernism at the time. you can make a case for burroughs and maybe ginsberg, as the former's body of work largely comes later in his life, but other than that you're definitely reaching. that being said, the beats were hedonistic slobs
