Peter Sotos, I think, is seriously the worst out there. I've read Cows by Stokoe, for instance, and it did nothing to me except for a few eww moments, but Sotos is really horrifying.

they're literally personified by their post war doubts that fall well in line with modernism at the time. you can make a case for burroughs and maybe ginsberg, as the former's body of work largely comes later in his life, but other than that you're definitely reaching. that being said, the beats were hedonistic slobs
