Why would other revelations of God such as Jesus' teachings be considered void just because Muhammed’s revelations were the final ones? Aren't they all revelations of God?

I was raised as a Bahai, and there line of reasoning was that god tells people whats best for them at any given time. So that's why he sends prophets periodically with different/updated laws, and as these are more modern they supersede older laws. I'm an Atheist so I don't agree with it at all, but it's one way to 'logic' it out.
