>have to put it down because you can't focus anymore

I went to see a psychiatrist and she said I don't have ADD. What do?

Pick it back up after you savor that feeling for a few minutes. That’s what reading is all about silly

Good to know I'm not the only person that does this. Please tell me you also pace around the room frantically.

Sometimes. I usually do that in the supermarket, though, which is why a shopping trip can take me up to an hour lol

Anon, I have some very bad news for you. I think you might have something called "gelastic seizure". I'm sorry. Your journey on this vivid planet is over. You are one step closer to God now.

Record how long you manage each time. Try to beat your last time. Make a game out of it and you'll improve.

No, there's always a stimulus. It's just that it's difficult to get through some books because they're too boring, but other books are actually too fun. How silly.

Sounds like a great way to ruin reading. I think focusing on the time would be distracting actually. Might work for skim reading textbooks for class or something though.

Any kind of "meta"-reading ruins the experience for me, I've reached the point where I can't fully concentrate if:
a. I can still perceive the passage of time (there must be no way to check the time nearby, nor any way to look outside).
b. This is very important, there must be no way to check what page I'm on; no "%", no time remaining in chapter, no numbered pages, just me and the text immediately in front of me.
c. Basic needs satisfied, keep a source of hydration nearby, of heat if it's cold.

There's one certified way to improve concentration, increased capacity for long term memory, only known cure for depression that isn't prozac and the pill jew won't tell you about it. And that is? Exercise, Cardiovascular exercise for more than 40 minutes 3 times a week. It will help to regulate your dopamine and overall improve concentration, memory and cognitive ablities. If running isn't your game then start walking, then jogging and lastly running.
